SUMMARY

Our client is a growing financial services company in the Portland/ Vancouver Metro Area. The company provides a wide range of traditional trust services including family trusts, wealth management, investment management, retirement and custodial accounts. This is a senior trust position and has the opportunity to impact the success of the company. 

Trust Officer I coordinates and performs day-to-day administration for various clients in a support role and on a separate book of business.  Position serves as one of the primary client contacts for valued clients and is accountable for servicing client accounts in a manner that is consistent with governing documents and state law and company policies.  Responsible for complying with all state and federal regulatory standards. This position also has responsibility for developing community reputation for excellence.  This position partners with investment professionals and other service providers.  

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Trust Administration Management:

    • Open and close accounts for clients

    • Prepare outline of estate planning documents for review

    • Monitor account transactions including daily review, deposits and distributions.

    • Maintain complete records and electronic client file including supporting documentation for distributions

    • Prepare annual review reports

    • Respond to client questions

    • Attend client meetings

    • Work independently on separate book

    • Demonstrate knowledge of interpretation and application of trust documents, trust and estate law, tax and investments

    • Help to prepare budget and financial plan for trust distributions

    • Maintain contact with beneficiaries, co-trustees and advisors to address questions, discuss and advise on issues, and contribute to planning

    • Support senior trust officers on book of accounts and work independently on separate book.

    • Lead projects as needed

  • Business Development:

    • Develop and maintain reputation in community for excellence and professionalism.

    • Establish professional relationships with referral base

  • Manage Compliance:

    • Comply with all state and federal regulations and participate in audits as needed.

    • Assure proper execution of bank policy with regard to systems, procedures, and personal administration

    • Devote sufficient time to training including in-house and external seminars.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Participates in and completes training objectives with passing scores

  • Follows all policies and procedures

 

 RELATIONSHIPS

  • Communicate with clients verbally and in writing on daily basis. Trust Officer II must develop relationships with beneficiaries and advisors to have appropriate knowledge to carry out the purpose of the trust and meet the needs of the beneficiaries and deepen trust relationships.

  • Partner with investment and banking team

  • Contact with community members including attorneys, accountants, and other financial intermediaries

  • Report to Chief Fiduciary Officer

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have either a good trust and investment background or a good cash management or lending background and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent work experience

  • Three or more years trust administration experience

  • Preferred professional designation or certification in progress (i.e. CTFA, CFP, CPA or certification)

 

SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret legal and estate planning documents, financial reports, tax information

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills

  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of the interpretations application of estate documents, trust and estate law, taxes and investments

  • Proven ability to maintain organization and focus on details

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
