Opening: Administrative Assistant
Location: Anchorage, AK
Pay: $70,000 per year, plus DOE
COMPANY INFO:
Opti Staffing Group is partnering with a participant-owned insurance company based in Anchorage, AK. The company offers a small office environment with a tight-knit feel, fostering a supportive and collaborative work culture.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Assist in risk management and insurance areas, including property valuations and risk management control systems.
- Participate in accident and injury investigations, preparing material and evidence for hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Conduct on-site loss reviews following serious incidents and provide recommendations for prevention.
- Develop, prepare, and present awareness-level workshops on relevant loss control areas, coordinating all logistics.
- Represent the company in community safety groups, programs, and committees.
- Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate exposures, formulate risk profiles, and develop safety strategies.
- Perform building appraisals for municipalities and school districts to ensure proper value reporting for property coverage.
- Develop and revise manuals, written guidelines, policies, and internal procedures related to loss control.
- Review contracts and agreements for risk management and loss control considerations.
- Maintain files and records, and perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety or a related field, or at least five years of progressively responsible experience in loss control.
- Strong language skills, including the ability to read and interpret complex documents, respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints, and make effective speeches and presentations.
- Proficient in mathematical calculations and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Excellent reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, particularly in Alaska, with a valid Alaska driver’s license.
- Knowledge of local government operations, finance, and structure preferred.
- Experience with public entity self-insurance pools, risk management, claims management, insurance, and non-profit associations is desirable.
- Cross-cultural experience and strong word processing and computer skills are a plus.
- Must provide references confirming satisfactory performance or the capability to perform similar work.
