Transportation and Production Support Clerk

 

Reports To: Transportation and Purchasing Coordinator

Supervises: None

Classification: hourly position

 

Under the direction of the Shipping & Receiving Lead, provides assistance in the shipping of finished product as well as receiving and inventory control or raw materials. Based on an understanding of production schedule, the Transportation and Production Support Clerk communicates with carriers and brokers to schedule the outbound production shipments. This position is directly responsible for working with production, customer service and sales to ensure clear understanding regarding production shipments. In addition this position is responsible for assisting in the receiving and oversight of production materials purchasing and material inventory control.

 

Essential Duties:

· Schedules outbound production shipments.

· Schedules outbound UPS orders and processes sample bags for clients.

· Understandings/follows the production schedule.

· Anticipates the finishing schedule to expedite product.

· Communicates with carriers and brokers regarding production shipments.

· Communicates with Customer Service & Sales regarding production shipments.

· Phones and/or emails customer contacts regarding production shipments.

· Ensures all documentation/record keeping are completed in a timely manner.

· Accurate data entry into Access database and use of Excel spreadsheets.

· Assists in monthly inventory counts.

· Assists in forecasting misc inventory, pallets and pallet tops.

· Assists in placing and tracking orders for misc inventory, pallets and pallet tops.

· Follows requirements of company Safety and Health plan.

· Acts in compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) plan.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

Roles and Functions:

· Performs Transportation support scheduling outbound production shipments.

· Performs Administrative by effectively communicating with all relevant parties regarding transportation of production shipments.

· Performs Administrative support function by assisting in general administrative duties as described in essential functions.

 

Elements of Success:

· Accurately schedules outbound production shipments and communicates information to all relevant parties.

· Accurately performs monthly inventory counts and receipts reporting as required.

· Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment.

· Performs duties as a Production team member.

· Encourages others to follow all safety and health rules.

· Participates in workplace safety efforts.

· Performs assignments as expected and agreed.

· Follows all safety rules regarding the operation of a powered forklift.

 

 

Position Requirements:

· At least two (2) years of experience scheduling outbound production shipments to include communicating with carriers and brokers regarding production shipments.

· At least two (2) years of experience in Production, or equivalent education/experience.

· Basic to intermediate math (count, add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages).

· Working experience with MS Office and Access, Excel or similar spreadsheets.

· Language skills sufficient to communicate Production issues with Lead or Management.

· Provide skilled material handling support to Production and warehouse areas.

· Provide accurate record keeping and material tracking.

· Alert Shipping and Receiving Lead of issues as needed to ensure safety and product quality.

· Able to determine appropriate response to standard Production area variables.

 

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally throughout the day.

· Ability to stand for up to 10 hours daily, exclusive of breaks.

· Ability to walk, squat, bend, and reach overhead as needed.

· Ability to reach, grasp, twist, push and pull in order to manipulate product, materials, and/or machinery.

· Ability to see and hear so as to operate office equipment in a safe and reliable manner.

· Ability to see so as to perceive depth, texture, and observe close detail.

· Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, odors and dust.

· Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

· Ability to hear, understand and respond to directions.
