Opening: Sr. Accountant
Location: Hybrid in Anchorage
Pay: $68,000+ DOE

Opti Staffing Group is partnering with a non-profit organization looking to add a dedicated Senior Accountant or Experienced Senior Accountant to their team. This role is critical for managing the accounting functions of assigned non-profit organizations, as well as supporting the finance team with month-end processes, audits, and other special projects.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Facilitate and complete month-end close procedures, including adjusting journal entries, revenue accruals, and overhead allocations.
- Monitor and reconcile balance sheet activity, preparing journal entries and following up on discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Controller and accounting staff to meet monthly, quarterly, and yearly close deadlines.
- Assist with annual budget compilation and audit preparation for assigned companies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and support GL Accountants, providing guidance and professional development.
- Review reconciliations and journal entries submitted by other accounting team members (Experienced Senior Accountant only).
- Focus on more complex reconciliations of balance sheet items (Experienced Senior Accountant only).
- Take on other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis).
- At least 3 years of general ledger, audit, or related accounting experience.
- 2 years of experience in audit preparation and financial statement preparation.
- Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with ten-key by touch.
- Ability to pass a state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
- Experienced Senior Accountant:
- All of the Senior Accountant requirements, plus:
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in accounting.
- Experience reviewing complex balance sheet items and reconciliations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Sage Intacct and ADP.
- Public Accounting experience.
