Position: Laser Technician
Location: Portland, OR
Pay: $25–$30/hr DOE (Depending on Experience)
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift

What You’ll Do:
As a Laser Technician, you’ll be at the forefront of laser processing technology, playing a critical role in programming and operating advanced laser equipment. This position requires a blend of technical skill, quality control awareness, and a proactive mindset to meet both internal and customer standards.

  • Program and operate laser systems using NC, CNC, and CAD-based software

  • Interpret AutoCAD DWG and DXF files with a strong understanding of GD&T, surface finishes, and taper controls

  • Monitor and adjust cutting parameters such as speed, power settings, and laser focus

  • Perform start-up, shut-down, and machine safety checks including shutter controls

  • Develop new fixturing and optimize existing fixtures for quality production

  • Conduct full-cycle quality checks: First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections

  • Utilize precision metrology tools: calipers, micrometers, pin/feeler gauges, and automated inspection equipment

  • Work under high magnification (microscopes) to inspect micro-level features for conformance

  • Make real-time decisions that affect production and customer satisfaction

What You Need to Have: The Musts:

  • Proven experience with NC/CNC laser systems and CAD-based programming

  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD files, blueprints, and GD&T

  • Hands-on familiarity with metrology equipment and tight tolerance inspections (down to ± 0.0005")

  • Understanding of laser machine safety protocols and operational controls

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to self-monitor, and a drive for precision
Preferred:

  • Experience in a regulated or aerospace-related manufacturing environment

  • Familiarity with automated inspection tools and advanced quality systems

  • Willingness to collaborate across departments and continuously learn
