Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Shipping/Receiving Specialist with forklift experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficient loading and unloading of shipments, accurate inventory management, and ensuring the safe and timely movement of goods within our facility. The candidate must be adept at operating a forklift, reading a tape measure, and lifting heavy items while adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, and transport materials within the facility and from/to delivery vehicles.
- Receive incoming shipments, inspect for damages, verify accuracy of contents, and document received items appropriately.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by selecting and packing materials, ensuring accurate labeling, and arranging proper transportation.
- Organize and maintain an efficient storage layout to optimize space utilization and facilitate easy retrieval of items.
- Keep accurate records of inventory levels, stock locations, and movement using both digital and physical tracking systems.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize and fulfill orders, ensuring on-time and accurate delivery to internal departments or external customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, complying with safety regulations and guidelines at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments to facilitate smooth workflow and address any logistical challenges.
- Utilize basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure accurately to handle measurement-based tasks.
- Lift and carry heavy objects, following proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Shipping/Receiving Specialist or in a similar role, with proven forklift operation experience.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting shipping documents, labels, and inventory records.
- Ability to use a tape measure accurately for measurement tasks.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, often weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management tasks.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and practices.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude to address logistical challenges effectively.
~Starting at $20 per hour, evaluation after 90 days for increase ~Training and room for growth.
