Job Description
Opti Staffing is on the Hunt for a Senior Buyer!
This critical position plays a key role in ensuring the profitability of projects as they progress through their life cycles. The successful candidate will be expected to source materials in a nearly -JIT environment, within a project’s established timeline & budget to ensure individual project margins are met or exceeded. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding, manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and/or create material take-offs
- Request quotes, negotiate pricing, and purchase materials, components, or services in line with
- budgets and delivery targets
- Create accurate purchase orders in QuickBooks Online
- Develop purchasing strategies and identify buying trends to keep the business profitable
- Communicate with multiple departments daily
- Conduct self-guided research to become familiar with what products are available as well as their costs and benefits
- Schedule freight for finished goods ensuring deadlines are met
- Manage deliveries to confirm compliance with contracts
- Participate in inventory tracking
- Monitor stock levels and verify purchase requisitions
- Keep detailed records and maintain various spreadsheets
- Maintain professional relationships with vendors
- Communicate schedules, risks, and any conflicts that may impact business operations
- Senior Buyer experience
- Degree in supply chain management, logistics, or similar
- Experience with relevant software (e.g. Google Suite, QuickBooks Online)
- A strategic and analytical mindset
- 2-4 years of proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role within a manufacturing
- environment.
- Need to come from manufacturing
- Metals experience - company is all welding and manufacturing
- Familiar with shop drawings and blue prints, Purchasing steel, stainless
- Extensive knowledge of metal trades
- Capable of reading shop drawings
- Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
- Positive attitude and excellent attendance record
- Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and achieve set targets
