A longstanding Alaskan organization that connects people to Alaska' s magnificent parks, forests and refuges is seeking a superstar to add to their team! The organizations mission is achieved through educational bookstores, publishing, encouraging volunteerism, and by engaging youth in hands-on learning programs in Alaska' s wildest classrooms. In their efforts the organization is supported by their partner agencies, members, donors, and customers. 

This is a full-time position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, 2 &1/2 weeks of paid vacation, employer-paid long term disability and life insurance & employer funded retirement plan.

Starting salary will range from $35, 000- $43, 000 D.O.E 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

*Provide management and oversight to 10 retail locations (some seasonal and others year round) throughout Alaska

*Recruit, train and develop retail store associates who engage visitors and help connect them to Alaska. 

*Order and manage inventory  and keep it at sustainable levels to ensure profitability. 

*Operate Point of Sales system. 

*Management of pricing and merchandising  

*Set sales projections and implement ways to drive sales. 

*Maintain strong relationships with agency staff, organizations colleagues, and vendors. 

 

Qualifications:

*4  years of retail work experience (2 years experience in retail management preferred)

*Bachelor' s degree in business desirable.

*Strong relationship building skills and the ability to " manage by influence"

*Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and the technical aptitude to quickly learn sales & inventory management software.

*Mathematical ability a must 

*Valid driver' s license and ability to travel independently, overnight, by air, sea or automobile, to various locations within Alaska.
