Reports to:  Plant Operations Manager

Salary Status:  Non-exempt

 

Position Summary: This position provides overall quality and environmental compliance and training across appropriate functions within the organization. 

 

Essential Job Functions:
  • File, scan and retain documents according to the BMS and company policies
  • Administer programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company to include reports that provide input to management
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as necessary and to represent the department
  • Perform:   Testing on processes, products or components; Audits on material and final product; Statistical process control functions.  Document findings on the above mentioned actions
  • Work with Production to resolve compliance issues and provide recommendations; Communicate on status of action resolution; Raise attention to management on issues that require attention or corrective actions
  • Participate in improvement initiatives and facilitate communications on practices and policies
  • Audit and inspect shop floor documents for compliance to the quality management system; Write and/or reworks paperwork for creation of additional parts
  • Drive process/ procedure development and improvement initiatives as related to the quality management system.
  • Provide BMS and Quality training and development for team members, including new hire training and cross training.  Assure that training requirements for safety, production processes and SOP’ s are completed satisfactorily and on time
  • Maintain effective interaction and communication with internal and external customers
  • Manage the corrective and preventive action processes
  • Assure that all products maintain the highest standard of quality by understanding and utilizing the following: Work Instructions, Product/Material/Machining Specification Sheets, Operational Storyboards,
  • Produce Shop Floor Auditor Reports to Quality Manager
  • Drive Plant quality improvements through process and product monitors.  Performs root cause analysis and continuous improvements
  • Completes environmental audits and other required compliance audits

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills 
  •  
  • Experience with Microsoft products including Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Must be organized, have attention to detail and possess the ability to carry out a variety of functions within a specific timeframe
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing; ability to work with co-workers
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, and other Conestoga team members
  • Capable of delivering business presentations to various levels within the organization

 

Job Requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent certification, plus vocational, career or technical studies
  • Two to five years related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean/5S concepts
  • Familiarity with Washington State and federal rules, regulations, and laws
  • Ability to perform audits and inspections for conformance with established policies
  • Ability to interface with regulatory agencies if needed
  • Ability to organize, review and maintain appropriate files
  • Capable of working independently without close supervision
  • The need for judgment and discretion in independent decision making is required
  • Required communication with department and non-department employees, management officials, vendors, customers, and community and trade associates
  • Required to communicate effectively through verbal and written forms. Verbal presentations are required to an average extent
  • Required to compose emails, reports, memos, logs and records
  • Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Responsible for hiring, training, disciplining, terminating, evaluating performance and scheduling/assigning work

Essential Physical Requirements:
  • Requires the use of elbows, fingers, hands, lower arms, thumbs and wrists
  • Requires occasional lifting and/or moving 40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities are required in this job including close vision, color vision and peripheral vision
  • Requires a regular amount of sitting in a day with the occasional need for standing or walking
