Opti Staffing Group is excited to partner with a prominent Native Corporation in Alaska, known for its commitment to community and cultural heritage as well as its diverse business interests. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Technician to join their dedicated team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Payroll Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing payroll in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Maintaining and updating payroll records; reviewing timesheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Calculating and depositing payroll taxes, as well as filing payroll tax reports.
- Handling the administration of the electronic timekeeping system, monitoring submissions of approved timesheets, ensuring valid data transfers to/from payroll service.
- Responding to and resolving any inquiries regarding payroll from employees and management.
- Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Technician or Payroll Specialist, preferably within a corporate setting.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software, like ADP or QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations affecting payroll, employee benefits, and taxes.
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- High school diploma required; further education or certifications in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
