Non-Profit Event Planner Strategist

Location: Portland, OR Area

Pay: $26-28/hr, DOE

Hours: Part Time 

Our client is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting BIPOC women who have previously experienced incarceration. Their focus is on cultivating opportunities for growth and resilience, allowing individuals to flourish despite their past circumstances.

We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic individual to join our team as an Events Planner. This role is crucial in supporting our mission by planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of events and providing comprehensive administrative support to our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of non-profit events, including location scouting, vendor procurement, and day-of logistics.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, including scheduling meetings, managing travel arrangements, and event coordination.
  • Draft communications, manage mailings, and maintain appropriate filing systems. Assist in securing the best venue for events, considering budget, purpose, and guest profiles.
  • Prepare financial reports on events and ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
  • Support program evaluation by summarizing workshop feedback and attendee experiences.
  • Contribute to the organization’s visibility by representing us at events and promoting membership.
  • Manage attendee lists, send invitations, handle RSVPs, and assist with special event registration and execution.
  • Develop engaging and visually appealing content for various social media platforms.
Skills and Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience, with preference given to those with non-profit experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills and outstanding verbal/written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. 
  • Ability to develop and track budgets and other financials.
  • Ability to learn/navigate and utilize database systems.
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit funding landscape in Oregon.
  • Strong racial and social justice analysis with knowledge of BIPOC communities and issues in Oregon.
  • Knowledge of social media design a plus.
  • Some graphic design experience would be helpful.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and priorities effectively and professionally.
  • Willingness to travel within the state and perform moderate lifting (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
