OPTI STAFFING GROUP IS HIRING
Opening: Manual Machinist
Location: Anchorage, AK
Pay: $26 - $28 PH
Join a busy Anchorage job shop as a Manual Machinist. If you take pride in precision work and like variety from day to day repairs to new builds this is a solid place to make an impact.
COMPANY INFO:
We are partnering with a long standing job shop that supports construction, heavy equipment, fishing, forestry, marine, and oil and gas projects. The crew is hands on, the pace is steady, and pride in a clean safe shop really matters.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Set up and run manual lathes and vertical and horizontal mills
• Read and interpret prints, sketches, and specs to plan your work
• Machine shafts, pins, bushings, gears, key seats, and key slots
• Cut OD and ID threads including SAE, acme, and tapered threads
• API thread experience is a bonus
• Perform drilling and tapping operations with accurate layout and measuring
• Use and care for precision tools micrometers OD and ID, calipers, scales
• Assist with disassembly and reassembly of components for repair such as electric motors, gear boxes, and marine winches
• Follow shop safety practices and maintain a clean organized work area
REQUIREMENTS:
• Five years of manual machining experience in a job shop or similar environment
• Strong blueprint reading, shop math, and tolerance knowledge
• Hands on skill with lathes, mills, band saws, hydraulic presses, push broaches, and common grinding tools
• Own basic hand tools adjustable wrench, hammer, hex wrenches, screwdrivers, files and personal precision measuring tools
• Able to lift and move materials safely and stand for extended periods
• Reliable, team oriented, and able to follow direction while working independently
