Part Time: 20-30 hrs a week
Compensation: $18-22hr DOE
Location: Canby, OR
Who We Are:

Local Agricultural Consulting firm looking to add a new member to their fast-growing team. Our client works with local farms specializing in soil consulting specifically geared towards maximizing yield and output over a variety of crops. They work primarily within the fruit and berry industry.

What You’ll Do:

The Laboratory Technician Assistant will assist other Lab Techs in the day to day lab operations of a high throughput plant and soils lab. Duties will include, but not be limited to: note taking; restocking inventory; setup, labeling and post processing clean up; sample preparation; pipetting, dilutions, sample loading, instrument monitoring; data entry; sample waste neutralization, disposal and correlation; lab cleaning.
This position is Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm with flexibility – more hours could be added.

What You Need to Have:    

Reliable, Self-Starter that can work with minimal supervision
Detail Oriented, Able to manage large amounts of data efficiently
Ability to precisely follow lab protocols for sample preparation and processing
Ability to work alone or with 1 or 2 others
Previous experience in a Laboratory setting.
Ability to follow all lab safety protocols
BS in Chemistry, Biology or other related field

Job Duties

Manage incoming plant and soil samples to allow for efficient processing.
Weighing, drying, sifting, samples, numbering tubes, etc.
Assist growers in accessing the correct answers to their questions
Facilitate grower access to timely reports, site features, sampling guides, other key information.
Perform sample preparation and processing efficiently of plant and soil samples
Pipetting, dilutions, sample loading, instrument monitoring, instrument maintenance.
Clean and maintain supplies, equipment & workspace, maintain safe working environment
Follow written protocols to the letter and ask questions when needed
Basic computer skills to upload data once completed
Follow established protocols and work in a high throughput plant and soils lab
Sample waste neutralization, disposal, sample labeling, sample correlation, data processing.
