Location: Portland, OR
Compensation: $40 - $45/hour
Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

What You'll Do:
As a Journeyman Mechanic, your main responsibility will be to carry out repairs, inspections, and maintenance on a wide range of vehicles. You’ll also be expected to mentor entry-level mechanics. Daily tasks will include:
- Diagnosing Issues: Identify complex mechanical problems using both visual checks and diagnostic equipment.
- Preventive Care: Perform routine inspections and maintenance, including DOT (Department of Transportation) checks.
- Repairs: Replace or fix malfunctioning components like brakes, sensors, wiring, and other key parts.
- Maintaining Equipment: Service heavy equipment with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Inventory Tracking: Keep an organized log of parts and tools necessary for repairs.
- Testing: After repairs, conduct tests to ensure the vehicle is operating properly.
- Test Driving: Drive the vehicles post-repair to ensure everything is functioning as expected.
- Work Area: Keep your work environment neat and safe.
- Documentation: Complete all paperwork, including DOT forms, and submit it on time.
- Mentoring: Assist and guide junior mechanics to help them improve their skills.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all company and safety policies are followed during work activities.
What You'll Need:
- Experience: At least 5 years working as a mechanic on diesel and gas-powered vehicles (trucks, vans, etc.), or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance, especially for heavy-duty equipment.
- Welding: Experience with welding is beneficial.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and fix mechanical issues.
- Electrical and Hydraulic Knowledge: Ability to interpret basic electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Tools: Must have your own set of hand tools for the job.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required; CDL is a plus. Clean driving record for the last 3 years.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in challenging physical conditions.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using diagnostic software and performing administrative tasks using a smartphone or computer.
