Opening: Seasonal Janitorial and Maintenance Tech
Location: Anchorage, AK
Pay: $22.00 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Janitorial and Maintenance Tech to support a well-established Anchorage facility through its busy summer season. This role covers janitorial upkeep, light maintenance and repairs, grounds keeping, and general laborer support to keep the facility clean, safe, and well maintained for staff and visitors.
This position is generally scheduled in the evenings, with coverage needed seven days a week including nights and weekends, scheduled in advance based on business needs. Some overtime should be expected.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Janitorial
- Follow a cleaning schedule covering daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly priorities
- Vacuum, sweep, wax, and mop floors; empty trash; pick up litter inside and outside the facility
- Dust, sanitize restrooms and fixtures, clean mirrors, glass, and doors, polish brass and stainless
- Shampoo carpets, restock restroom and kitchen supplies
- Set up and tear down for events
- Keep janitorial closets clean and supplies organized; clean and store janitorial machinery properly
Maintenance
- Complete work order requests, including light/ballast changes, taping, mudding, painting, and general repairs
- Keep outdoor equipment in good working order and mechanical rooms free of dirt and debris
Grounds Keeping
- General upkeep of the facility grounds: mowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing, planting, and pruning
- Pick up trash around the building exterior and parking areas
Laborer
- Help move furniture and office items/supplies between locations
- Move, load, and haul away large discarded items
Safety & Security
- Keep walkways, halls, and exits clear
- Follow safety data sheets and safety manual procedures
- Handle evening lock-down duties: securing doors/windows, activating alarms, locking gates
- Attend monthly facility meetings
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-2 years of general maintenance experience
- At least 1 year of janitorial and/or grounds keeping experience
- Experience with hand tools and power equipment a plus: weed eater, lawn mower, snow blower, bobcat, ATV, man lift, power tools, floor cleaners/scrubbers, plow truck, sander
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfortable working outdoors in all typical Anchorage summer weather conditions
- Ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs, and to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed
