DIESEL MECHANICS - HEAVY EQUIPMENT

Position
: Service Technician
Location: Portland, OR
Pay: $30.00 + per hour DOE (overtime pay)

What You’ll Do:
  • Troubleshoot and repair all systems (electrical, hydraulic, A/C, powertrain, etc.) on heavy equipment product lines.
  • Operate equipment to assist in locating and diagnosing failures.
  • Use hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
  • Interpret complex hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Perform diagnostic testing, tuning, and equipment assessments.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed while performing work.
  • Communicate effectively with customers about issues and repairs.
  • Maintain and clean the assigned field service truck.
  • Complete and submit work order reports, time entries, and other paperwork daily.

What You Need to Have:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating a field service truck and repairing heavy equipment.
  • High School diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid Class A or B CDL and the ability to maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and reaching.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude under pressure.

The Musts:
  • Experience repairing heavy equipment in a field service environment.
  • Experience with heavy equipment products is preferred.
  • Ability to comply with DOT E-Logs and hours of service.
  • Own required tools.
  • Reliable, honest, and with a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to work overtime with minimal notice.
  • Ability to travel away from home for work as needed.

Preferred:
  • Prior dealership experience.
  • Familiarity with specific heavy equipment product lines and diagnostic tools.
