Project Engineer

What You’ll Do
The Project Engineer (PE) assists with the planning, coordination, and execution of structural steel fabrication and erection projects from contract award through project closeout. The PE plays a key role in ensuring project requirements are effectively translated into shop/erection detail drawings and monitoring project scope for potential impacts. This role requires close collaboration with general contractors, field teams, steel detailers, vendors, and internal departments including estimating, safety, accounting, and production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding and interpreting construction drawings and project specifications
- Review RFIs, ASIs, and revised design drawings for scope of work impact and communicate findings to the project team
- Generate and respond to shop drawing detailing RFIs regarding structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Manage and review the development of shop/erection drawings in accordance with contract documents and company detailing standards
- Assist with steel estimates/take-offs for assembling change orders and bid proposals
- Maintain project budget by entering/tracking cost changes in project accounting software
- Daily coordination with field/shop leadership, steel deck suppliers, metal fabricated stairs, coatings, and other subcontractors to ensure the projects remain on track and on budget

What You Need to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred) OR 2–4 years steel construction experience.
- Internship, co-op, or 1–2 years of prior project engineering / construction experience.
- Familiarity with project management tools (Procore, CMiC, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Desire to learn the structural steel industry and grow your expertise.

- Eagerness to learn both fabrication and erection processes.
- Clear, professional communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and follow-through.
