Crating Associate

Job Description
Location: Forest Grove, OR
Compensation: $18–$19/hr + DOE
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm
Who We Are:
Our client’s manufacturing facility sits on five acres in beautiful Forest Grove, Oregon — framed by the Coast Range to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east. Originally a supplier of group operator air break disconnects, the company has since expanded its product line to include motor operators, ground switches, surge suppression resistors, and unitized phase-over-phase designs, among others.
What You’ll Do:
As a member of the Crating Team, you’ll play a key role in supporting various departments within the manufacturing operation, primarily focusing on building and preparing shipping crates.
Responsibilities include:

Design, build, and install custom wood packing crates.

Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.

Prepare project layouts and select appropriate materials.

Measure height, width, length, and proportions accurately.
-
Join materials using nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.

Check work to ensure all builds meet code and specification standards.

Use levels, framing squares, and rules to confirm structural alignment.

Document completed work and track any scrapped or rejected materials.

Inspect materials and finished parts to ensure quality and compliance.
You may also support other departments such as brazing, fabrication, machining, sub-assembly, controls, motor gear operations, pipe cutting, crating, or even delivery driving as needed.

What You Need to Have:
-
1+ year of shipping or warehouse experience
-
Proficiency with hand and power tools
-
Familiarity with levels, framing squares, and rulers
-
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
-
Legible handwriting for documentation
-
Reliable transportation
-
Ability to read a tape measure down to the 1/16"
Preferred:
-
Forklift experience
-
Carpentry or crating experience
