What You’ll Do:
As the Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating costs and preparing comprehensive budgets for construction projects. Your role will involve working closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure accurate cost assessments and help guide projects from pre-construction to completion.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Cost Estimation: Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other project components.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit accurate bids for commercial and residential projects.
- Project Coordination: Work with project managers and teams to define project scopes, timelines, and resource needs.
- Market Research: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, labor costs, and material prices to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Risk Management: Identify potential cost risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them.
- Value Engineering: Suggest cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.
What You Need to Have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5+ years of experience as a construction estimator, with a strong background in both commercial and residential projects.
- Skills:
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, or similar tools).
- Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and costs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Experience in both commercial and residential construction projects.
- Software: Proficiency with project management or scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project).
