Opening: Buyer
City: Hillsboro, OR
Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
Pay: $30-33/hr.

Our Client delivers technology for polarization measurement. They innovate, develop, manufacture and distribute polarization measurement instrumentation for research and industry. Their product solutions exploit the ultra-high sensitivity of photoelastic modulator technology to deliver advanced and typically real-time polarization analysis.Â
Founded in 1971 and located in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area between San Francisco and Seattle, they have grown to become the world's leading source for polarization measurement technology.
Position Summary:
This Position supports the Manufacturing and Applications Research departments (ARE group) for purchasing, stocking, and production scheduling functions.
Tasks:
Buying
-Perform Routine purchasing tasks. Source parts and services; issue purchase orders using approved requisition and MRP processes.
-Coordinate with Manufacturing and ARE staff regarding terms and availability of requested components and materials, including samples and substitutions.
-Obtain quotes for parts and services, compare and report options, obtain best pricing and and terms, place orders.
-Monitor and Report status of purchased parts, materials, and services.
-Monitor and evaluate vendor performance for delivery, quantity and quality. Expedite late deliveries. Coordinate to resolve order discrepancies.
-Assist with receiving functions as necessary.
-reconcile POs and packing slips, secure and maintain completed order files.
Planning
-Schedule productions jobs for customer orders, make-to-stock inventory, internal fixtures and equipment, and ARE projects.
-Communicate with ARE to track and coordinate builds to meet delivery dates.Â
-Monitor parts and materials required for job orders. Promptly communicate any inventory adjustments that may affect delivery schedules.
-Manages materials and product inventory.
-Enter bills of materials and routings for new and custom products. Update BOMs to match engineering change orders. Develop kits for outside service vendors.
-Facilitate the transfer of new products to Manufacturing.
-Performs other related duties.
Change and configuration Tracking
-Process and manage Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders
-Process part number requests.

-2-3 years work experience in purchasing for engineering, ORÂ 5+ years in a manufacturing or distribution setting.
-Excellent attention to detail
-Excellent communication skills
-Comfortable tackling new and challenging projectsÂ
-Strong organizational and time management skills
-Data entry skills
-Team PlayerÂ
-Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
-Experience using an ERP system
Preferred:
-Knowledge of polarization measurement instrumentation for research and industry
-Development and implementation of SOP
-Event planning
-SAP or OptiProERP experience
