The primary purpose of the Technician is to provide our customers with:
1.  Properly performed needed repairs and maintenance in a manner to exceed our 5yr/50,000 mile warranty while ensuring the safe operation of vehicle
2. A high quality repair so that their car is fixed right and won’t come back.
3. Maintain a minimum productivity level of 6 Billed Hours per 8 Hour Workday or minimum of 75% productivity per day.

All cars are thoroughly inspected per company procedure so we may inform our customers on the condition of their vehicle and advise accordingly. The only exception is if the customer declines the inspection service. 

Service and repair our customer’s vehicles correctly.

The Technician is also responsible for helping the other technicians or employees as needed, putting in writing all repairs and parts needed, correctly routing Repair Orders, turning in parts that are unneeded, cleaning up the shop, being friendly with customers and fellow employees.

1.  Show up to work on time daily, and be ready to work at the start of the day
2.  Pick up Repair Orders from your Repair Order rack in the order they have been dispatched.
3.  Locate the keys and pull the car into the shop
4.  A Technician will complete testing/diagnosis, research, and vehicle inspection completely with all supporting documentation/pictures that coincide with any work being recommended and/or performed:
     a.  Work Performed will include a short but complete description of the 3 C’s:
     b.  What is the Concern
     c.  What is the Cause
     d.  What is the Correction. What is necessary to make the repair or to maintain the vehicle, why it is necessary, and parts required to do the job properly.
5.  A Technician is to report and prioritize the necessary Repairs or Maintenance in the following order:
     a.  First – What the customer brought the vehicle in for
     b.  Second – Any Safety Issues (for the vehicle, driver or passengers)
     c.  Third – Anything that will save the customer money if done with #1 or #2
     d.  Fourth – Any future related items or recommended maintenance
     e.  Fifth – Any Elective or Cosmetic issues
6.  A Technician is to complete the repairs/maintenance in such manner as to exceed our 5yr/50,000 mile warranty and ensure the safe operation of the vehicle
7.  Once work is completed, a Technician will TEST DRIVE vehicle, ensure work performed correctly, and all in good working order
8.  A Technician will ensure the vehicle is free of any grease, fingerprints, tools, etc
9.  ASK FOR HELP RATHER THAN WASTE TIME. Seek help from co-workers when needed

*A Technician NEVER diagnoses a vehicle while with the customer, indicates they know what the problem really is or the time it will take to make the appropriate repair (this cheapens the diagnostic time and costs the business and the technician money) The express purpose of riding with or talking with the customer is to find out information that will lead to a proper diagnosis and resolution to the customers complaint.
  • A Technician is to make sure that all work performed is working properly and per manufacture specifications
  • A Technician may be asked to check another technician’s work to determine if it has been done properly
  • A Technician may be asked to repair another technician’s work if it is deemed by Management that it is necessary (The Technician will be compensated for all work done in this manner)
  • A Technician is to take pride in their work area and keep a safe and clean work environment
  • A Technician is to take pride in the company tools at all times. Return them to their assigned area, clean and in proper working order
  • A technician is to clean and return all remaining parts, bolts, wire etc. in their proper location when a job is finished
  • A Technician is to clean up their personal work space and assist in the cleaning of the shop every day before close of business
  • A Technician is to continue his/her education and maintain his/her knowledge of vehicles in order to stay abreast of the rapid advancements and changes in the Automotive Service and Repair Industry.
  • A Technician is to read/study the employee manual in order to understand and follow all rules and requirements of their job and its duties.
The statistics to track and monitor for the Technician position is Weekly Billed Hours based on the labor guide.  The Technician Weekly Billed Hours will be pulled from the Business Summary Report.

Vehicles diagnosed and fixed right the first time in a reasonable time. Production Efficiency should meet or beat the recommended book time.
