Position: 
Administrative Accounting Assistant
Location: SE Portland, OR. (Onsite /  NOT remote)
Pay: $18-$20 / hr.
Schedule: Mon- Fri (No weekends!)


Job Summary: The Administrative Accounting  Assistant will provide support to various Accounting and Administrative departments necessary for the basic operation of the Company.



Specific duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with Accounts Receivable:
      Set-up customer accounts / maintenance on accounts 
      Assist with preparing invoices and statements for mailing
Assist with Accounts Payable: 
      Process / enter payables, match purchase orders, solve invoice discrepancies
Assist in filing accounts payable and receivable invoices/documents
Process Warehouse Manifests
Cover phones for Receptionist: rotating schedule either 12-1 or 4-5
Back-up Receptionist for vacation and sick days
Other Administrative duties as the need presents itself


Competencies:
Data entry skills / 10 key
Thoroughness / attention to detail 
Work with minimal supervision / problem solving skills
Ability to produce professional business correspondence
Operate office equipment, computers, phones, copiers & fax machine
Good verbal and written communication skills


Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
1 -2 years accounting or general office experience
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Advanced Excel skills a plus

I attended the Art Institute of Portland for Design Project Management, but like many I am not using my degree for what it was intended for. After moving back to Portland, I decided to switch career fields. Someone suggested that I use a staffing agency, to get that new industry experience on my resume. It worked! But I had to temp a lot to find exactly what I was looking for. I even was an Opti Candidate before becoming a recruiter!
